We usually keep Christmas eve for our family. We share a meal and open some sort of gift that morning to keep the kids busy, but still making their anticipation grow for the next morning. This year it was some Eco Dough and Rock Crayons and of course Chocolate!!!
I've been a stay at home mom for 15 years and have loved every minute of it (well mostly:) Three years ago we started making all natural soap and selling at our local farmers market, well a couple of months ago we decided it was time! I have always wanted to open my own shop, not ever really knowing what kind of shop, just the thought of owning something cozy, friendly, something I believed in and that could be mine was my dream. My investment, to pass down to my children, something they could see me do, be with me while I do it and then grow up and do it themselves. To be a part of something bigger then "just today", but investing in the future, our community, and people. Contributing knowledge about healthy living, natural parenting, and taking care of what's been given to us. So here you have it, our latest adventure...
Raggle Taggle Eco Shop!
We are a shop that carries, natural body care products, natural parenting products, hemp, bamboo, organic cotton clothing, among others. We also carry locally and USA made handcrafted products.
We hope in our near future to offer a variety of classes through our little community shop! ;)
How about another Birthday, oh wait how about 2 more!! D and Hubby also have October birthdays. D is such a young man. Many mistaken him for a "sir" asking "may I help you find something sir" when we go out. ;) We have had such a busy and full, very blessed October. One of our traditions we started years ago was pancakes for birthday breakfast. We've had normal to pink to blue, to different shapes of pancakes. Lots of fun, with lots of candles this year!
My birthday girl is 12! Wow how time flies. She has grown and continues to grow into a lovely young lady. We don't know what we would do without our Farm Girl! She loves to help in the home, taking care of the littles, cooking/baking, crafting, sing, and creating lots of fun for everyone!
As fall is upon us I have been feeling the need to clean and get the house in order. I guess there is spring AND fall cleaning. ;) Sometimes I feel as if we take 2 steps forward 3 steps back! This has been a very busy season in our lives. Lots of decisions and changes. We are truly embarking on some new adventures...unfamiliar territory! We are both excited about this and apprehensive. More on that to come!
This homestead has been such a blessing to us, but with it (the animals) we have had our fair share of heartache. We had to put down one of our wonderful girls...Ruby(Nubian) for she got severely attacked by what we are assuming was a coyote. She was tore up pretty bad to the point she was breathing out her neck. :( We thought she might make it, but by the second night after finding her she was in to much pain. You know it doesn't get easier. Each time we loose an animal anywhere from our calf down to a little kitten it just breaks our hearts.
Fall is my favorite season, but for some reason this fall doesn't really feel like fall. Maybe it's the strange weather, maybe the busyness, maybe it's because the leaves aren't really changing all that much. I'm a bit afraid it's going to turn off cold very quickly and we will miss this beautiful season.
I'm quite rambley this evening and feeling quite a bit sentimental, really just wanting to share with anybody that will listen to all the tidbits of thoughts I have floating around in my head. Really I just feel like this life goes by way to fast. I've been told many times "blink and it will be gone". This is unfortunately so very true. Oh God, help me to slow down and enjoy the journey...and help me to see!
We had a great time with company. Any time the girls get together there's going to be a dance floor! The volcanic jig and the Virginia reel blend just to name a couple. The adults joined in at the end...after catching up. Cutie baby had a blast in the middle of it all. I wasn't' feeling great, so I just took the pictures.
Do you ever get to dinner time and have no idea what your fixing??? Nooo Never! Well I do more often than I'd like. :) Well it happened again tonight...so J, farm girl, and myself talked it over and came up with me cooking herbal fried potatoes, J cooking fish, and farm girl on carrots...hey it worked, it was good, and actually fun! We cooked it outside, then, decided to eat it outside!
My how time flies. It seems we were just planning and planting our garden, excited for new growth and now, pulling and clearing it out. Giving the corn stocks, tall weeds, and end of the summer produce to the farm animals. I enjoy change, it's something I have always been fond of. Someone once said to me "change is a constant you can count on with God". It's very true. Change is always around us, causing us to always be expecting new and wonderful things. Really it's the very nature of His creation...people, animals, society, earth, the seasons, just to name a few. I think maybe, change happens so subtly around us day by day, that if you're not careful, you'll blink and miss it. So I encourage you, embrace where you are, look around you daily...maybe hourly and see!
