This little setting was not staged. They just sat down on their own like this and it seemed they couldn't get close enough. They were just giggling and having the best time at the dog playing with her squeaky toy.
The building project is coming along, sometimes slowly it feels. I know this part takes the most time, but I get discouraged sometimes at how slow it seems to go. With fall knocking on my door and no pumpkins or mums to greet him is disheartening. This is my favorite season and while I'm glad hubby gets to work in the beautiful weather, I'm a bit sad that I feel like I'm missing it by not having a home to dress up. Soon enough I suppose. I'm trying my best to take one day at a time and not worry what tomorrow holds. Today has enough troubles of it's own, to worry about the futures troubles is silly. As we are adding stuff to the land it is a bit sad, as I love the raw look of the land. It is so peaceful and natural with nothing on it. I know it is inevitable for this to happen, but we are trying our best to keep it as raw and natural looking as we can. We are building a very small structure to live in while we build our house. We don't know how long the "house" will take to build and we are hoping we will all be sane by the time it is done. :) I have researched quite a bit on small or should I say tiny houses and what I am understanding is that organization is key! While yes, this is actually a garage we are going to call it "the cabin". It just makes me feel better. :) Definition of cabin - 1.asmallhouseorcottage,usuallyofsimpledesignandconstruction:
Okay really there are several definitions of cabin, but I like most people in the world am picking out the two that "fit" what I want it to mean.
Sooo from this point on in my writing I will refer to our new living quarters as "the cabin".
Also because our new place only has 3ish acres we will now call this our homestead instead of the farm.
These last few days are always so hard. The waiting game gets old especially when I keep having contractions and then they stop when I start thinking they're serious. So everything is prepared, I'm dilated to 3, maybe more now. It's such an up and down thing for me. My feelings say "I'm ready" no wait "I'm not ready. I go back and forth from day to day. But really overall I'm way ready and excited to hold my baby boy. We have actually picked a name, but we're not telling anyone until he's born! ;) I will say on here we'll call him baby S.
We took some impromptu photos before he is here. He should be here very soon. I don't really care to have my picture taken, but I know my children like to look back over the photos and say "that's when I was in mamma's tummy". Plus I do like to look back and compare pictures of how big I was.
My sister gave me a baby shower today. I truly enjoy celebrating new baby and giving them a special day they can look back and reflect on when they are older and as they go throughout their birthdays. This is kind of like his birthday party! I love people and am so grateful for those that came to celebrate with us. I think my favorite part this time was the games. :)
She picked (with my help) forest animals. The first picture up at top is a hedgehog...how cute! We had owl cupcakes, acorn chocolate, pinecone cheese ball, and of course the hedgehog watermelon bowl. Banana punch and veggies/dip.
Our washing machine broke a few days ago so off to the laundry mat we go. We had so much laundry...one...because we were a bit behind already, two...we have nine people in our family, three...I needed to wash all the baby stuff, four...it seems cutie baby has leaked on his blankets every night, until we were down to no sheets left. So after a long night and thirty five dollars later we are caught up. We went to look at some used machines today. It's a decision between two, hopefully we will have made this decision and will have a working machine by tomorrow. Blessings, JM
After much attempt to buy a house...twice...It just doesn't seem to be what we are supposed to do. Both inspections came back negative...to the point that we just didn't want to mess with the repairs that need done. So we were just browsing a local for sale site, and came across this piece of property. It is 3.24 acres, it has a well and septic, and a concrete pad already on it. It has lots of different kinds of trees, lots of pines (which we love). It is about 6 miles from town, but you feel like you're in the middle of now where, maybe even like you're at the lake. So... We have decided to build. Something we have wanted to do over the years, but just never thinking it would happen. The best part is we are out of debt and plan to build slowly debt free. This we are very excited about. Never in a million dreams did I think we would be able to do this. After much discussion and contemplating, we decided to build a smallish building to live in temporarily while we build our house. Hubby hopes to have this building done in the next two to three weeks. Between him working, the rain, and me having the baby, we are hoping all works out.
I'm very thankful I kept my pigs, goats, and chickens. We will be moving them over hopefully in the next month. He has been making trips taking all the outside stuff over already. We mostly have everything that can sit out in the weather taken over.
All this has seemed a bit overwhelming, but we know it will be a great adventure!
I started my second piece of clothing I've ever done. It's called Kauri Vest from Revelry. I am actually enjoying making this vest. It's pretty simple and quick...two of my favorite things. You knit two pieces then sew them together. This cute little vest will be for baby which is due to arrive at the end of September. I have been having quite a few contractions and feel like he may come a bit earlier then the rest have, but I have thought that before and nope a week early every time. I was working on getting all his things washed and ready and right before I got to wash his clothes our washing machine broke. So we will be heading off to the laundry mat tomorrow. I'm okay with washing our clothes their, but I just don't know about baby clothes. There always seems to be "other" smells that come home on our clothes every time I've done wash there. Maybe build up on the machines?? We would buy a new one, but where we are moving we won't have space for it, so we will be doing wash at the laundry mat at least over winter. We hope to have our house done by spring.
This evening was our seventh fire this week, according to my boys whom love this kind of thing. It started off rather large for they really wanted a "bonfire". I do think having so many fires makes one eat to many hotdogs. I was telling hubby we're going to have to figure out some other things to cook over a fire. To me this is intimidating. I cooked a bit on a woodstove for the last two years, I'm pretty good at cast iron cooking now, but now to move on to cooking over an actual fire...hmmm. I'm going to have to figure this one out. How to cook a pot of chili for a couple of hours and it turn out great, not burnt, but done. I'm sure it's not rocket science, just new to me.
The boys decided they needed a shelter and a fire to welcome new weather! It is finally getting a bit cooler, though we had a great summer with cooler weather, August has been hot. So me being the relaxed wonderful mother I am :) I let them be their wonderful boyish selves and have at it. I was informed today that they have had 7 fires already this week...more then we usually have all year. I usually say NO to everything fire, especially when daddy isn't home, but I am trying to relax and let them be boys. I'm hoping for a wonderful fall!
